[ While many would go out of their way to avoid picking up oddities while looking through the items people were trying to sell as they cleared out their clutter in what he could only describe as suspicious spring cleaning… A certain mage had always been rather drawn to picking up items of such a nature (often left behind by other mages who would not appreciate the ‘Scourge of Mage Society’s’ nosiness) and then analyzing and reverse engineering them himself… Maybe making some improvements.
Everyone needed a hobby, right? And at least this meant someone who knew what they were doing was picking stuff up before people who wouldn’t know did.
Of course, not everything always went to plan and sometimes the universe threw you little curveballs for its own amusement… And Waver was many things, amusing when ruffled being one of them. One of the townsfolk had slipped in a ‘bonus’ without his noticing, and while he absolutely could probably solve it… It wasn’t so simple when it presented a very distracting situation.
So… You know… Enjoy the sight of a man on his last nerve and the sound of multiple meows coming from the other end of the feed. Yes, that’s right, he’s got a cursed object that has attracted a bunch of stray cats to his workshop. ]
Afternoon, everyone. I seem to have picked up something a bit… complicated.
[ Gods, this is embarrassing… The man tries to keep a straight face, but there’s a stressed switch in his brows. ]
I’m sure there have been a few people who’ve already picked up oddities that the locals have been trying to get rid of, and while most of the ones I’ve come across have been fascinating finds…
[ No, seriously, his magic-solving brain has enjoyed the workout. ]
It seems something was slipped in that, while I can undo the enchantment, is proving to be more distracting than I can properly focus on.
[ Another meow, the sound of a beaker being pushed off the counter and breaking on the floor, is heard. Waver takes a deep breath. ]
If anyone is good with cats, I would gladly pay them to- stop scratching up my sofa! And you! Get down from there! [ He cleared his throat before trying again. ] I will pay someone to gather and remove these trouble makers before they destroy my workshop!

[He paused with the cat still in his hands. This was why he stuck with groceries and loved when the farmers brought in fresh produce.]
Did you get from that weird place in town with that kinda creepy shopkeeper?
[If so he was staying far far away.]

[ So embarrassing. Good thing no one who knows him in his world is here now. The question gets an arched brow. ]
You mean Fanci from Grave Concoctions? Been there a few times and some of her selection is useful enough.
[ He generally preferred to work on his own ‘concoctions,’ but it was a convenient when you were in a rush. ]
But, no. All the items I’ve picked up today were among the sales from people cleaning out their houses for spring.

Oh that sale thing, I never thought to really take anyone up on it.

[ and to his knowledge, Yuki might not be equipped as he was to deal with them (the cat situation not counted). As a teacher and mage, he couldn’t encourage someone to go thrift shopping for things like this in good conscience unless he knew they wouldn’t end up in a mess. ]
And if you do, let me know. I can try to help if you come across something unpleasant.
no subject
How would I know if they are?
[But then the other said to let him know. So maybe that was a good way to find out? Not touch anything remotely magic looking? As he brought the next two cats out to put them with the others, he figured that there might now be a way to know.]

[ He responded with a thoughtful tilt of his head. That was the best bet for someone who wasn’t accustomed to these things. That didn’t mean it was 100% going to work out that way, though. ]
If you end up with something without realizing it, it’ll usually be apparent shortly after, depending on what it is. Basically, if something out of the ordinary happens that takes a sharp turn towards bad, think about anything new you’ve introduced to your space and then give me a call. I can probably work out what happened and deal with it from there.

Still, he listened further to get more information before replying as he continued to load more cats.]
So you can help out with magical things or somehow reverse a magic used?
no subject
[ He’s been cursed before, as one of the 12 Lords. So it would be strange if he hadn’t been targeted. If he found assistance from someone more powerful was required, he could think of one or two people he could ask here. ]
no subject
[He placed two more cats in the cart and thought a minute.]
How much do you charge for something like that?
no subject
[ The question is met with a slight pause. He hadn’t really considered charging for the assistance. He was… quite stable here when it came to money, compared to back in his world. Back there, his services were often offered for a fairly high price by Reines as a way to work off the El-Melloi debt. ]
I think that would be case-by-case. Dependent on the curse and the cost of materials to negate it.
[ At least if they were talking about the general public, and what they could afford. He had yet to charge anyone he knew or had come to consider a friend over the course of whatever situation drew them together. ]

If I come by anything unusual then I'll let you know.
[This place was weird in general and anything even more unusual stuck out here.]

[ And he’d make himself available if Yuki did find anything. Right now, though, he feels some relief to see the last few cats being escorted out. Maybe with any luck, he’d get this sorted before more arrived. ]
Ah, seems like you made short work of rounding them up.

It's going to be chaos to get them out. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people though.
