[The voice that comes through the phone sounds tired, more than anything. It's mid-toned and has the slightest drawl to it, as well as a distinct Canadian accent for anyone who might recognize that kind of thing.]
Well, this is a hell of a thing.
[A brief pause, and there's the sound of him shifting a little bit, then the plunk of a bag hitting a table.]
So...I'm Ches. Ches Fields. 37 years old. Farmer by trade. I hail from British Columbia, Canada, if anyone knows where that is. Live there with my little brother and a bunch of friends who help me run the farm.
[Another pause, then a soft laugh.]
Who all's here? Tell me a little about yourselves? And, well, if anyone from The Commune is here, drop me a line.

[He's been here for a while, but that doesn't mean he can't commisserate. It's not even the first time he's shown up somewhere other than his home.]
Nice ta meetcha, Ches. I'm Harry Dresden, Wizard. Yeah, for real. We're all sort of like a commune here, but I don't think that's what you mean.
no subject
[It's not the first time he's woken up somewhere weird, but it's certainly a first on this other world business.]
Nice to meet you too, Harry.
[A pause, and then, a little cautiously.]
So it's safe to talk openly about being a supernatural here?
no subject
What kinds of things do you farm?
[Harry spent a bit of his youth on a ranch as well, but that was more horses and cattle, less veggies.
He nods with a smile.]
You're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.
@audio;
[ Hey, it’s been a long time since he’s heard from someone from Canada. Not since the last world he’d been dropped into, now that he thinks about it. ]
It’s nice to meet you. I’m Detective Llewellyn Watts-Maresh. [ Yes, his name has gotten to be more of a mouthful than it was in his own world. ] I’m from Ontario, Canada, actually. I haven’t met anyone else from a commune in British Columbia, so I don’t know that anyone you know already has arrived… But uh- I do know where you’re from.
And it’s not odd for people who know each other to arrive, though it can be a bit spaced out sometimes from what I’ve seen. So you may find a familiar face to show up that isn’t here at the moment.

[And even before he hears that he's from Canada, he can hear that Ontarian accent, and smiles. The smile comes through in his voice when he talks again.]
Nice to meet you too, Detective Watts-Maresh. Good to see there's someone else from my home and native land here. Too bad you haven't run into anyone else from BC, though, I was hoping maybe this thing got some of my people too.
[A pause as Llewellyn mentions that it's not odd for people to arrive who know each other, and he gets a little spark of hope.]
Really? I hope so. Jasha, Dusty, or Noah would be a lifesaver right now.
no subject
[ He knows the welcome-committee doesn’t really help much. ]
Yes, unfortunate circumstances of our meeting aside, it’s nice to talk to someone from there after so long. There are a people from worlds that are similar enough to have a Canada though, so a few people should know what you mean.
[ A thoughtful hum followed as he committed the names to memory, or at least to remember them long enough to write them down somewhere to refer to in case they did arrive. ]
Really! Arrivals are rather randomly timed… but not entirely impossible in these places. If I happen to run into them, I’ll be sure to send them in your direction.

[It sounds...surprisingly easygoing for someone who just arrived to a whole new world without his pack. Internally, he's having a bit of a freak out, but that's carefully closed off. At least there's someone from Canada here.]
Yeah. It's kind of a relief to have someone here who knows home, and comes from there.
[A little sigh, at that last bit.]
I hope they show up. Well. I'd rather just go home. We had a lot of stuff going on, things to do. This was...really inconvenient.
no subject
[ The man does seem pretty easygoing, but the detective is pretty sure that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s okay with this whole kerfuffle. It’s not fun to suddenly find yourself in another world, but some people handled the shock with a little more grace. Other people, to Llewellyn’s observations over the years, less so. He couldn’t say which was the better way to react, though he knew which he preferred, but both seemed pretty valid. ]
I think a little familiarity, even from a stranger, helps with the adjustment. So if you want to talk, you are welcome to get in contact.
[ Although Llewellyn supposed they could be from a rather different Canada, depending on the world. Then there was the possibility of different eras that he’d run into on occasion that tended to be odd. That all aside, the detective gives a sympathetic hum at the comment. ]
That tends to be a common similarity between arrivals, unfortunately. Worlds like these always seem to pick the worst times to bring people here. I don’t know if it helps or not, but some people get sent home uh- rather quickly? Other’s less so, of course.
@voice;
[ There's some exceptions here that she knows about though. ]
One of my closest friends here is from Canada. I've never been myself, but I'd have liked to. I wasn't really allowed to travel much in my own world. [ And one can't really travel too much here. ]
I'm Ivy Tamwood. Living vampire and former Runner. What is the Commune?
no subject
[He's had his share of weird, but never quite this much.]
Oh really? That's good to hear. Not about the not traveling, mind, but about your friend. Why weren't you allowed to travel?
[A pause. There it is again. Someone openly saying she's a vampire.]
So this is a safe place for supernaturals then? Even the monster kind?
[Another pause, as he realizes that she asked that last question.]
Oh, just a nickname for the farm I live on. Was just checking to see if any of my people are here.
no subject
It's pretty good, I've never had a better friend. [ Ignore that she's never had many that weren't disasters. ] It wasn't something allowed of someone with my position.
[ Awkward. She's not too fond of the word monster. ] A good portion of this place is supernatural and few of us are the monster kind.
The nickname makes it sound a bit like a cult.
no subject
[It's better to think about clues and hints as to how to go home than it is to focus on the fact that he's not home, looking after all the things that need to be looked after, leaving his pack without a leader.]
Your position?
[The word 'monster' was at least said with some disdain, because he doesn't believe in the term himself.]
Oh. Well then, I guess if that's the case I can be open about being a werewolf.
[A pause, then a soft laugh.]
That's the joke. Some people call me the Werewolf Guru.
no subject
[ She's not sure if that's a good or bad thing either. ]
Highblood living vampire in the favored family of my area's Master vampire. He intended to keep me on a short leash.
[ She chuckles. ] You can be as open as you want. I'll only judge if you have the same smell as werewolves in my world. [ It's said lightly, but she really isn't fond of the smell. ]
Werewolf Guru, huh? Is it an accurate thing for people to call you?
