There is more than one way to bring the season spirit into the world. Lauri-Ell was doing it in the form of charitable spirit. There was more than one booth set up to raise money for the local orphanages, and one of them was clearly labeled 'Bay Blades'. Under the sign of the booth was a display of small and pretty baubles, from custom worked eating utensils to small knives and scissors, to even little samples of some jewelry work.II. A Pretty Jewel For You | Open; Bay Blades
Behind it all, seated in a comfortable chair and working a kitchen knife over a sharpening wheel for a waiting patron is Lauri-Ell herself, the massive journeywoman blacksmith smiling as she chatted with a waiting patron.
"Oh yes, they are really fine knives. They'll be sharp in no time. Just remember to give generously if you like the work. The children need it."
Not every day can be for charity of course. There is still work to be done, and in the moment it comes in the form of Lauri-Ell sitting near the fire at Bay Blades on her break, drinking copious amounts of lemon infused water as she sketches with her free hand.
"You really are a pretty thing," she says as she pauses in sketching to look at the pretty purple crystal she had found after a recent encounter in the streets. "I just wish I had Gili's skill for stone setting."
Somehow she was going to figure out how to set this thing into something pretty she could wear. But just what was a mystery.
The good news was there were always customers to distract her. Like the one approaching now. Lauri-Ell smiles and jumps to her feet. She finishes her water and moves forward.
"Welcome to Bay Blades. How might we help you?"
no subject
Some way she can help? Lauri-Ell considers.
"Are you good at wrapping things for safety?"
no subject
The question causes Yin's eyebrows to dip, though.
"Don't know. You could show me?"
no subject
"Not much of what I offer is fragile, but some prefer not to have it scratched, especially the sheathes for things like blades. Be sure of what you're wrapping first. Here, let's try with this belt knife."
no subject
Her fingers are deft and careful, and Yin feels the edges, head faced down at the item. She lays out the paper and rolls the knife in it, carefully. It might be a little crooked due to lack of practice, but the result means the paper will keep the knife surface from scratches. She understands, at least.
"Like this?"
no subject
Still, she is pleased with how quickly her friend has taken to the lesson set before her.

She still moves slowly, but it's safer this way.
no subject
"Yes, you are correct. While man things here to not, I find it is safer with the bare blades. Less chance of cutting yourself if you pick it up wrong too."
no subject
"I can wrap to assist," Yin decides. She wants to, even if she sounds as even and emotionless as ever, she wouldn't make the offer if she didn't want to. She's not supposed to be able to even do that.

Maybe she's getting the hang of how some of this new stuff works? This isn't like selling convenience items, where someone hands her money and she hands them an item. But she can do this.

"Has your search for employment been going well?"
no subject
"I have not found anything, yet." She is also not very worried, or hurried about finding something.
no subject
"I wish I could offer you something. Perhaps you should speak to Aerith at the flower shop Maybe she would have an idea. Or Mister Llewellyn, he helps with a detective agency."
we can wrap for new stuff?
yes that sounds wonderful!
Had Lauri-Ell not taken advantage of such knowledge herself?
