[Sam studies the crystal for a moment as if he's trying to figure out how it works.]

Uh hi....sorry but I'm new here and I'm trying to figure things out.

I'm Sam.....and I hunt...things for a living. I don't know if anyone needs someone like that.

I'm good with computers and tech stuff too if anyone needs anything fixed.

But yeah...hi..again.

I don't think there are any computers but I think a hunter could be useful.

I was a hunter too... sort of. I was what is called a Sphere-Hunter. We traveled all over Spira to discover its unknown history. There always seemed to be monsters wherever there were Spheres.

That sounds fascinating....what type of monsters did your world have? I'm always interested in learning new lore.

[Yuna exhales a soft huff.]

It's a pretty long story. I can tell you but it might be easier in person and- [She paused, sounding thoughtful.] It might be better to tell you what monsters are here first.

We've found some and tried to document them as best we can.

Hunt things, huh? What's your feeling on Kobolds? Because the guard can ALWAYS use more hands on certain things. And there are sometimes postings on the bulletin board about jobs that people need taken on.

Or if you mean hunting like animals for food, there's a hunter's lodge. I could show you where.

If it's hurting people. I'll take care of it. I'm not fussy as long as I know the lore on whatever I'm going after.

I don't like going in blind.

Lore? There isn't a lot of lore on kobolds. They're rude. They hurt people. Take a halberd and crash it through their heads.

Monster hunting is pretty simple.

I guess I'm used to our monsters needing a bit more than that.

Other than vampire...head slice and done on those.

I mean, slice the head and done tends to work on most monsters. Wendigos, dragons, chimeras. The few things it doesn't work on tend to be things that have no heads. Or are only heads...

Some things on my world need certain weapons or hex bags or things like demons or angel blades. It can get confusing sometimes.

Huh, in my world angels are just pretty fantasy concepts, same with demons. They don’t compare to actual monsters and dragons and the like. But no, stuff here doesn’t seem to be like that.

I think we're all trying to figure shit out.

You know, I've never had a great experience with hunters. What's your typical target?

It depends on the case....my brother and I...we hunt anything that is hurting people.

Vampires, rogue angels, demons that kind of thing.

Yeah, vampires and rogue angels, just the normal things. [ Her tone is thick with sarcasm. Her world has mutants, but nothing like that. ] Your world have a lot of things like that?

[Sam laughs softly and nods]

More than you'd think yeah.

[She chuckles herself.] We've got our share of weird species where I'm from, but not exactly like that.

Just when my brother and I think we've come across everything....something new tries to kill us.

It's starting to get annoying.

You know, I know that feeling. [ She chuckles. ] Gotta ask though, what do you guys do to piss so many things off?

Hi, Sam. "Things" is pretty vague.

People get touchy when you bring up the word monsters.

I was trying to be tactful.

Sounds like the kind of word that forces you to define what a monster is. Humans are pretty good at being monsters.

Believe me I know that first hand....Angels are pretty big dicks too.

I try to avoid angels whenever possible.

[Says the demon in him.]

Yeah I know...I wish I could too...but my best friend is one so...his problems become our problems.

Have you ever wondered why they always have to have all their playground disputes in our backyard?

Cass...that's our angel buddy says it's because most of them are pissed we're God's favorite.

God in our universe basically confirmed it. He's pretty much a dick too.

I'm pretty sure God's a dick in any universe, a typical parent would threaten their children with "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it", only with floods and plagues rather than idle threats.

Yeah well our God was destroying everyone....the entire multiverse...

Stuff like that.

Well that sounds...cool. Uh. How'd you get into doin' that?

Uh,,,it's kind of a family thing...our grandfathers were hunters and so was my mom.

Then things happened and got my dad into it too.

Huh...not really the sorta family business y'hear much about

The community stays on the downlow for a reason....most people don't want to hear about the darker side of life.
