It's a Watts party! (Just don't tell him)

Who; Aerith + YOU
What; Potluck party
Where; Gray building's downstairs common room
When; Sunday June 26th; after 4pm
Warnings; None

Aerith co-opted the common room of the gray building starting on Saturday when she began the process of decoration. The most important part of any decoration (especially for Watts) was the flowers and Aerith had put together a few center pieces for tables. Each flower that she'd chosen had symbolized friendship in some way and they were set up in the center of small tables that had been brought inside. Of course she wasn't the one that moved those tables, she had a trust bodyguard for things like that, but she did the decorating!

And the cooking! The main attraction was a pretzel bar in the center of the room. Please, thank Cloud for bringing it in and Jacob for making the pretzel rack at Aerith's request. The soft pretzels were premade and there were plenty for everyone who may come through to have several (if not more). In addition to that there were also several dipping sauces to choose from including cheese, caramel, cinnamon sugar, honey mustard, and a spicy ginger sauce with chili flakes (eat at your own risk).

A table next to it had Materia Xiaolongbao. Yellow is crab flavor, black is soybean, blue is pork, green is cilantro, and red is spicy shrimp. Next to those are tiny moogle sweet bean buns. They fit in the palm of your hand but some of the moogles look...a lot better than others. She did her best!

There was another table with a few drinks set up for people to grab including a materia bomb cocktail with a bit of alcohol and different flavored materia ice (peach, strawberry, and blueberry) and bright green bubble tea with pop bubbles in the bottom. The green tea is flavored like something very different than one might expect it to be, it's a bit bit bitter and yet also a bit sharp, almost biting. It's meant to be the flavor of wind, whatever that's supposed to be. The pop bubbles are extremely sour and explode in the mouth with the sourness. The drink is also somehow fizzy, don't ask how.

A third table was empty save for the friendship bouquet at it's center. There was a little handwritten note on the table saying:

Leave your dishes here! Complete with a heart.

Aerith herself can be found wandering around and paying close attention to the drink table, making sure to run back to the kitchen quickly to grab more drinks if they run low.

OOC: Feel free to use this log as an open thing for anyone to mingle and get to know each other. Characters are welcome even if they didn't bring a dish themselves, but the more dishes the better! Anyone is welcome to come even if they didn't know she was throwing this party, it'd be pretty obvious that there was something going on in the Gray Building and she'll be leaving the door open with a small table that has a friendship flower bouquet on it. Please have some fun!

The scholar in him listened and even if he wouldn't ever visit these places (or he was pretty sure that was the case) it was still interesting to him to hear and know stories of other lands unfamiliar to him.

"I see." Ignis replied after Harry was done speaking. "That would explain the politeness of the two that I've met thus far."

And then he smiled. "So your country had some dealings with Japan then or not so many?" Politics were a thing he was interested in too, having grown up navigating them in the royal court when he could get there.

"Yeah, a lot, during and after the Second World War. I'm not historian, but we were on different sides, their military did some pretty dirty things to ours, we did some catastrophically more dirty things in return that just kept being dirty, but then there was a treaty, and relations have improved a lot since then. I don't know the specifics, I don't really follow politics, but I know we're allowed to visit, and we've got a few military bases there, but we didn't conquer the place."

He nods. "I'm pretty sure we get a lot of Japanese exchange students, and we import a lot of their pop culture things."

"That all sounds rather fascinating." Ignis observed. He could see how that would work and he was more than sure the Niflheim Empire would have all of that intel on the Citadel after their rather forced visit. Noctis had planned on doing all that he could to pay them back and that was the plan setting forth after they'd learned about the false treaty signing and all of that.

"After war, peace is certainly preferable." the advisor replied. "But it sounds as if things are that way for you now, which is better in the long run."

"Well, the whole world isn't at peace, but it's not the whole world at war, either, so...that's better, I guess." He rolled his shoulder in a shrug. "And then there are the, well, the supernatural beings don't like to let the humans know about them, and they have their own disputes, but yeah...it's better than the second world war. That was...one of the darkest times in human history."

"Supernatural beings?" Ignis couldn't help but ask. "Would that be the ones such as yourself?" Here he briefly wondered if he somehow overstepped in his questioning but at the same time the subject had been brought up.

Looking at Harry now, he wondered. "I suppose there could perhaps be books on that particular subject."

Since it was considered a 'dark time' he didn't want to burden Harry into telling him about it.

"No, no. I mean vampires, faeries, trolls, those sorts of beings." Non-human entities that rarely had things resembling human souls.

"There are hundreds of books on the subject, really, but I don't know if any of them are here."

"Ah, so they have those in your world as well then." Ignis replied with a solemn nod. Funny he hadn't been aware of that, but it was good to know that different worlds shared a commonality with things such as that.

But his attention focused on the last part of what Harry was saying. "Well it wouldn't hurt to look at any rate."

And it had been awhile since he'd dragged his husband out to the Historium or Mage Tower.

"Just be prepared, if you find anything on the Holocaust. The history of Earth isn't exactly pretty."

And that didn't even fully involve anything supernatural, just human evil.

"Duly noted." Ignis replied solemnly. The word stuck in his mind and it didn't sound like anything that was going to turn up as pleasant.

Of course since the word was mentioned, the scholar in him wanted to immediately research it. The comparison he had was how the kingdom was wiped out and destroyed once the forces of the Empire had gotten hold of it.
