Most people probably had a "back there" to worry about, but while Shinjiro did fear for the things his friends were going to face, he'd already made the decisions he'd made, and there was nothing changing it. He wasn't sure whether or not he'd describe the place as "refreshing", but it was different enough to catch his attention. He knew the people in Iwatodai. Here, everything was new, and he didn't feel like he had a flu all the time. He'd done it to himself, but that didn't mean he wasn't grateful for the reprieve.
He just watched the guy evenly as he eyed the sandwich, offering a slight nod when he asked about the sandwich and didn't protest when the younger man took up his offer of the thing. He could always get himself another sandwich, or make himself something later.
"Don't mention it, Kitagawa-kun." He nodded again, "Shinjiro Aragaki."
